Earth Day is a moment to pause, but the impact of the materials we choose lasts far beyond a single day.

Globally, around 400 million tonnes of plastic are produced every year, with packaging making up roughly 40% of that total (OECD). Despite increased awareness and recycling efforts, only about 9% of plastic waste has ever been recycled, while an estimated 11 million tonnes enter our oceans annually (Science Advances).

And the trajectory is clear. If current trends continue, global plastic production is projected to nearly triple by 2060 (OECD).
Which is why the conversation is shifting. Not just towards reducing waste, but towards designing it out altogether. Materials that can stay in circulation, rather than becoming waste, are becoming increasingly critical.

Aluminium is one of the strongest examples of this in action. It can be recycled again and again without losing quality - meaning it doesn’t just get used once, but remains part of an ongoing cycle.

At Recorp, this is where we focus our efforts, supporting packaging solutions that prioritise recyclability, circularity, and long-term impact. Because building a more responsible future for packaging isn’t about one day - It’s about what happens next.
